Who knew El Centro College was cool enough to host a hip hop festival? And to make it free?

Use Your Index Finger To Point To Your Favorite Sentence, And Sammons Park

Anxious for live ditties? Try Sammons Park, in front of the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, TX. It all starts at 6:30 p.m., during the month of October. On a Thursday. The best part is, the live performers are people I've actually heard of.

Beware of Cool Cones. And, Was That a Jalapeno-hot Movie, Or a Jalapeno-hot Concert?

Got you covered with cones, music and a movie:

Delicious ice cream is only a few steps away at Beth Marie's old fashioned Ice Cream.

Reminder: you're not a Texan until you've tried Frito Pie (online, the price is 4.45).

Phox.. phox, are they a fox? What do they do, you ask?
They sing!!!
In particular, if you go to 2704 Elm St. in Dallas, Texas tomorrow night (June 28 at precisely 10 pm), you will hear them sing. They hail from mid or mid-Southern Wisconsin and have used their small town background to inspire their thoughtful gaggle of tunes.

The movie Hellion is gracing the texas theatre (historic texas theatre). Now. You are free to watch over the weekend.

The Jalapeno Half is tomorrow. I know this is a good run for you if you like jalapenos. Or if you like anything jalapeno-flavored.
Or, have ever seen a jalapeno in the store.

May you have a great weekend. (And great Fourth of July!)

Tubing, The Gexa Energy Pavilion, And... Fried Kentucky Fried Chicken?

So you want some June activities?
Haven't you been wondering, "where is a good place to canoe?" Go to Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday June 8.
You can canoe to your heart's content, while having a Sunday Funday.

Tomorrow is National running day.

Ok. Since the above events are the ONLY things happening in June. Here is one in July, and one in August!
In the Huh? I just wanted to dress like the Statue of Liberty category: Run the 7 kilometer or 4 kilometer course at Fair Park in Dallas, TX. After, attend a "festive celebration" in historic Fair Park while drinking as many beers as possible and dreaming of the fried Kentucky fried chicken (well, really... fried everything!) you can eat when the State Fair of Texas opens. The run takes place when? July 4.

The KXT Summer Cut musical show is happening August 15 at Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas TX. If you are a big fan of The Oh Hello's you can buy tickets tomorrow at 10:00 am. Get your mouse in gear.

Stay cool.

Get Rid Of Your Shoes And Help! The Earth Will Send You A Thank You Note

Looking to get rid of old sneakers or running shoes?
A local scout troop (girl scouts) will be collecting shoes this weekend. It will be at the Earth Day Texas event at Fair Park in Dallas, TX (April 26 & 27). Just stop by the booth called, For The Love of The Lake, Texas Stream Team, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The shoes are turned in to Nike and then, they become playgrounds and other useful things!
(The Polyphonic spree will also be at the event. They are from Dallas, TX).

Stay curious. Stay earthy!

A Socially Acceptable Run. And, A Party You Might Want To Miss

Don't forget the run on April 17 at 6:00 p.m., called "Run Together."
It is billed as a social experiment by the organizers.

February 22 is when Jared graces us with his Epic Party. It will swoop into South Side Music Hall in Dallas.
Nothing against epic parties, but 75.00 to see Vanilla Ice and Coolio? A slight silver lining is that Rob Base will be there.

I think Jared has lost his mind.

Happy MLK day in advance.

So prance, prance, prance.

Not prancing,

Don't Hesitate, Travel Away.

I almost did not go on my recent trip (to north carolina and Georgia), because of "too many things to do." I thought it would interfere with too many things.
A change of pace... just seeing a new city, can be refreshing. (Of course the verdict is, I'm glad I went. The lesson is that what I lost in 'getting things done,' I made up for by seeing new things). If you have the chance to travel, just go.

The End.

Have a good Saturday,
Alice

The Postal Service. And, Juanes in Dallas. Es la verdad.

Hello:

The postal service may not be what you think.

I read about this band, that was recently in Dallas, and wanted to find out more. After 2 tries, I found a song that is pretty good on You tube. The electronic-mania song is called Such Great Heights.

You must be craving Juanes:
Juanes will be in Dallas tomorrow night. It will be at the Verizon theatre in Grand Prairie ... at 8 p.m.
What I know about Juanes, is: I am a big fan. His concert in Bogota recently drew 10,000 people.

Have a good Wednesday. The End.

Ed Sheeran: Whine, Whine. And Hold Your Newspaper. Love Your Newspaper.

Hello all:

Today marks the first day of the blogathon. This means I could be writing every day for a month!

New topic:
I heard recently that Ed Sheeran was the opening act for Taylor Swift in Dallas, Texas at Cowboys' Stadium. I did not know about him. So I looked him up. I am not impressed by the whiny British boy.

New topic:
I was in Whataburger. I heard a song, "Gimmie That Girl."
I looked it up, and it is by Joe Nichols. In the song he asks, "Gimmmie that girl in a cute shirt and a pair of jeans..."
And, that's all he needs.
I guess for some people, it doesn't take much to please.

Finally:
Many newspapers have been shutting down, in the past few years.
While people are becoming accustomed to this, unfortunately, let's not lose our penchant for reading the morning paper. When newspapers go, an important part of our culture is dying off. Here is one that is closing. It is a church-related paper, but it is still important. A story in the Dallas Morning News.
Have a great day.

The END.

Having A Strategy Is So Important. Where's Waldo Girl and Photo Of White Rock Lake

Hi there
My mom always has a strategy when she goes to the grocery store. She knows what she wants. If we go together, most of the time she is at the checkout when I am not.
I have to search for her frantically, after having grabbed a last-minute item.

(I have noticed this about myself, below.)
While this is not always possible: It's important to have a strategy. While there definitely needs to be some work done on my part, I usually have a strategy. Sometimes I am super anal about trying to pick the person in a business or place--just by eyeing them-- that will help me the most. (Being able to do your job is not undervalued!!) I know that can be pretty selfish. Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails miserably.
I have a strategy at McDonald's and at target.

THE END.

Thanks for reading, and Happy New Year!!!!

The picture was taken at the Dallas Marathon in 2012.
This girl's name is Alexandria. She said she likes Waldo a little bit. And she was very nice about letting me take her photo!

A cool picture. Taken recently at White Rock Lake. I saved it for a long time. I didn't know what to do with it.

Write By Night, And "Can You Do Me A Favor? I Need a Jumper Cable."

Since I have proof there are at least SOME writers that read this blog, there is a helpful site called Write By Night.
They are located in Austin, Texas. While it's confusing to figure out EXACTLY what they do...
it looks like they provide a bunch of services for writers, such as coaching, mentoring, and other things. I like the idea of writing by night, since that is what a lot of people do.

I do know that you can subscribe to their newsletter, and to their blog. And, I found them on Linked In.

The other day while at Whataburger in the morning, a man approached me and said in broken english, while he waved around jumper cables, "Can you do me a favor? I need a jumper cable?" He happened to be asian. He actually meant, "a jump," because he already had the jumper cables!

In any case, I said no, because I had to go to class.
And, who knows how long it would have taken to give him a jump?
He seemed annoyed, and I felt like he assumed I was going to say yes.
In some cases, I would not mind, but this time it was a no.

The End.

Thank you for reading.
