The Lady In The Window & My First Blog Post.

hello:

The other day I was at school (Richland College), trying to do a quick transaction. The woman helping me was maybe in her 40s, with large glasses. This was a pretty quick, straightforward thing I had to do.

The area where she works is shielded by glass. So she was shielded by glass. I assume bulletproof. I always feel weird talking to people for long periods THROUGH GLASS.
In the middle of the transaction, she said,

"Are you ok?"
Me: "Yes."
"You seem like you're mad. At me."
Huh???

When she said this, the glass made her look amorphous. There is no good ending to this, except to say, it was very odd.

I wrote about the Baptist Generals recently. I am re-reminding you, and also reminding you that they are from Denton, Texas. This would be the "hallowed music town" of Denton Texas.

Hello there:

I watched a concert on TV that was an album release party for Justin Timberlake.
Now, I have been a fan in the past. Yes, I did listen to "Justified" and also liked the album "FutureSex/LoveSounds."
It's all not bad for a boy from Shelby Forest, Tennessee.
However, while watching the show, I was only impressed by one song, a song that Mr. Timberlake described as exemplifying "what would happen if The Jackson 5 went to Brazil."

His album and latest comeback is just overhyped, in my opinion (I hope you know that is is ALWAYS just my opinion).
Just because he looks good in a suit, that does not mean he is a musical genius!

Next:
I went to a Health Professions event at Richland College. In summary: the main organizer was late. The whole event was on the disorganized side. Not just due to the lateness, but due to other things.
I had been planning to leave early, but left even earlier than I had intended. To frame it in a quick manner, the disorganization made me sad.

Next, again:
Fierce Panda is a record company. They are going to create a movie about themselves called Endangered: The Story Of Fierce Panda Records. I do not know much about Fierce Panda Records, but I do know they were an early label for Coldplay, and many other acts.

Boomboxes Are Back In Style

Dear all,
The other day I saw a man strolling around campus with a boom box in his leather bag. He was actually playing the boom box while he went to class or did something else. He was perhaps in his mid-20s, with a bandana.

I have seen people with personal boomboxes on their bicycles. I have also seen people carrying them on their shoulders.
(This is with all of the TRUE boombox sightings of the 80s not withstanding).

But why he needed the personal music at a college campus was beyond me.

"This Trick Turns Women Utterly Under Your Control", Too Much Cheese Is Not a Bad Thing, And No Such Thing As A Free Lunch

Hi and welcome,

I received a spam e-mail that stated:
"This trick turns women utterly under your control - and both of us know that chicks love to think they're in control, so the trick I'm about to share can NEVER EVER be shown to any girl you aren't using it on." A video followed which explained the trick.

What?
We chicks love to think we're in control but are too DUMB to know when we're really not in control.
Did I let the cat out of the bag about the trick?

There were three packages of "Happy Farms" Muenster Cheese in the refrigerator today. How much cheese can one household eat?

H+M Photo, Man With His Hands In His Pants, And Still Digging Regina Spektor

Hello to all,
Here is a picture of people waiting in line at H+M on tax free weekend.

I also heard someone say to a companion, as they were walking out of the store, "It was almost like being in New York, and shopping there."

While I do like H+M, I fail to see the comparison!

Moving on.
I saw a guy at Richland College, standing around with his hands in his shorts.
I guess he needed a place for his hands. These were gym shorts.
I also guess, that this is the new casual way to stand?

I am still digging Regina Spektor. I have been a fan since 2006.
The tracks, #1 and #3, on the (new) album What We Saw From The Cheap Seats, which are: Small Town Moon, and Don't Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas), are my favorites.

Trying To Avoid College-y Conversations. And What's Hot, What's Not

Hello all,

In my class I just started recently:
Most people are college-aged, some from different universities. During a period of down-time, everyone started chatting, some were discussing what schools they are from, some were talking about summer plans, and also other things. I am much older than these folk.
It is very interesting that college-age people have their own mannerisms, their own selection of topics to be united about, their own almost everything. I just think this is important to note!
Summing it up, I sometimes try to stay out of these conversations. If I discuss my life history with someone who is currently in college, I try to keep it very general, so as not to have an awkward conversation or maybe so I don't have to reveal that I'm not in college for the first time. Yes ... ease and simplicity works.

I have an amazing ability to blend in and appear 25, which has served me well.
I do have gray hair. It is usually not noticed, or ignored. (I had gray hair at 24, if you must know) I would be way more uncomfortable in the classes I am currently taking if I did not have this ability to blend.
I'm glad to be 35, but thinking I'm younger is not a crime.

What Is The Chemistry Of Tears?, Barnes And Noble's Noble Alternative, And A Turtle

Dear Time-Killers While You Are At Work,

I saw a book yesterday called The Chemistry of Tears, by Peter Carey.
I read the inside cover, and then rapidly tried to read more.
This does not happen all that often.

I saw this book at Barnes and Noble. My lament: Now that Borders is gone, I am realizing I want to spend more time at the bookstore, and the best option is unfortunately Barnes and Noble.

Anderson Cooper Says Audi 5000 To A Woman, Mapsco Goodness, And Flowers That Turned Out Very Bright

Dear Readers,

Anderson Cooper told a woman who has had a LOT of plastic surgery to get off his show, calling her "dreadful" (Interesting word choice. Was he trying to be British?)

I have enjoyed the son of Gloria Vanderbilt for some time.

Yes, I am still a fan of Anderson Cooper.
Here is the confusing part: I always considered him a serious reporter (have you seen AC 360?). That is why I liked him. With his talk show containing oodles of soccer moms in the background, I am thinking, what in the world happened to Anderson Cooper?

I remember him reporting from serious locations, such as after Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana.
It is very hard to gel the image with the daytime chatter (Co-host one day recently: Rebecca Romijn!!)

New topic: I shared a grouchy exchange with someone today. The other party was grouchy first. What goes through my head when someone is super grouchy or kind of mean: 1.) Why does this person hate me? 2.) What did I do to offend them? 3.) Do they really matter, or, does their approval really matter to who I am?
I am trying to get to the third thought more quickly.
I know this "segment" was a little random.

I bought a Mapsco today. Even though maps are easily accessible with iPhones, I still want one. Do not ask why.
Some have already told me, "you don't need that, you have it on your phone." However, I am keeping my d*** Mapsco map.
Lovely. Just lovely.
