Just some thoughts:
I do not know too much about the Baptist Generals.
I have realized it is TOO LATE to tell you about their show at Good Records in Dallas, Texas yesterday.
However, I listened to them today, and I know they have a quirky, clamoring sound which took a lot of time and thought.
The Baptist Generals are (a quintet?) from the hallowed town of Denton, Texas. I do not know why they are called The Baptist Generals.
Maybe they wanted to be generals?
Next:
Here is a video from The Lumineers. I have heard this song.
But, I did not know the name of the artist until a few days ago.
The song can be a little annoying, but I am posting it anyway.
New topic:
I received a recorded message the other day.
The voice on the other end said I was selected to receive an Emergency Alert System, which was recommended by the National Alzheimer's Association and the National Diabetes Association. Why are they calling me? I thought..
I have neither of those diseases. (I'm 36).
Then I thought ... Oh, they must be calling me so I can START planning.
Have a good day. The End.
Alice

Welcome to my little piece of the blogosphere. During your visits to my blog you will see postings sometimes about music. I will talk about my favorite artists. I will talk about events and places to go. Since I am currently living at home, I'm North Dallas Homegirl and weblogista (Yes, I've been cracking myself up for 8 years).

Zoe Saldana Enlightens Us All
Hi there:

The other day, Thursday, I was watching The Today Show, and there was an interview with Zoe Saldana, who is in the new movie, Star Trek, Into Darkness.
I only watched the Today Show because I had been looking earlier for information about the past tornadoes.
Zoe Saldana stated, at one point, that she is so happy to be a part of a series "that was started with the idea of promoting peace."
(Not a direct quote).
Huh?
Zoe Saldana is not in this movie because Star Trek's plotline constantly promoted peace. She is in this movie because she is getting paid a ton of money (millions?).
I was trying to like her. But that was definitely a strange moment.
THE END.
Have a peaceful day.
Still listening to Regina Spektor. Although I have mentioned her previously, I want to do it again.

One Business Card Is Just Fine, Thank You
Howdy, I think:
I really don't like getting 2 business cards from someone.
(Unless I, for some reason, have been anxiously wanting their business card for months).
I have a drawer full of business cards.
And, I tend to save them and keep business cards I don't need for years.
If I get two business cards from someone, I just look at the second card with dread.
I want to say, "Really! I just need one!"
Also: Happy Mother's Day...early.
THE END.

The Song I Listen To...
Good afternoon,
This is the song I listen to as I'm trying to avoid looking at the sign for the George W. Bush presidential center.
(Don't take me literally, but I do have this CD and quite enjoy it):
Right Right Now Now is from the Beastie Boys Album, To The 5 Boroughs.
This lyric is very relevant today (The album was released in 2004):
Columbine bowlin',
Childhood stolen
We need a bit more gun controllin'
Moving on:
View this link for the Random Acts of Kindness web site.
Scarily true: you never know when your random act of kindness will impact someone's day.
THE END.

Mad thank you's for reading.

The Last Thing George W. Bush Needs...
Good Afternoon,
The George W. Bush Presidential Library opens today in Dallas, Texas.
The last thing this person needs is his own library.
(I am told all of the living presidents were there, including Daddy Bush, as he is sometimes referred to).
I first heard this reference at a small-town newspaper in Texas.
Also...
The Dallas Convention Center will be re-named "asap" in honor of Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Really: the last thing this person needs is her own convention center.
Music:
I am digging The Donnas. This is because of an old album (2004).
Thank you for reading. Exciting changes abound at North Dallas Homegirl.

Books: The New Drug!
I am longing to just read a book. Just to read for an hour, without doing anything else.
This is hard in our day and age.
Last year, (Yes, last year!) I had an extra hour or so before I had to go back to work one day.
I went to Half Price Books and just read for 15 minutes, without looking at my phone or being distracted.
Why was this so satisfying? Because I was so used to having distractions.
I am sad for the residents of West, Texas. There was a plant explosion there. I have been to this very, very, very small town.
The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon will be run on April 28. This is an image sent by marathon organizers, which honors the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing. Yes, today is the anniversary.

3 Quotes That May Or May Not Inspire You
The other day I ran in a 1/2 marathon. I saw a couple of runners that had a shirt that said, basically,
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Ok, I guess it's Phillipians 4:13.
It's not some made-up quote.
The point: Wow, I thought. If I only had a shirt that said that, I could instantly do all things ... like win the lottery?
(There is no dis intended for any church-going friends).
New topic.
Here are 3 quotes, all worth bearing in mind.
I am writing this because I want to share something positive today.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Famous prayer.
The principle is competing against yourself. It's about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before.
Steve Young, a famous football player.
This was passed on to me by my friend Gloria. Thanks! Read her blog. Do it now.
And:
Do not think of your fault; still less of others' faults. Look for what is good and strong and try to imitate it. Your faults will drop off like dead leaves when their time comes.
John Ruskin, an art critic during the 1800s and overall cool philosopher.
The end.
Have a good Tuesday.
Thanks for reading my little blog.

Livin' On A Prayer ... Whoa Oh
The blog is 100 percent unfiltered.
Remember: there is a Bon Jovi concert tomorrow at 7:30 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. I am not the hugest fan of Bon Jovi, but it's neat that they are still active with concerts.
In case you want more info on Slippery When Wet--don't know why you would--here is the link.
