Big Tex Will Go Into Hiding Soon!

You have one day, I repeat, 1 day! to visit the State Fair of Texas. That means the icon known as 'Big Tex' will no longer make public appearances.

While a "Texas bunch" of money-spending opportunities await you at the fair, nothing could be better than seeing the world's smallest turtle.

I take that back... you can always eat a funnel cake, which one cooking goddess describes as a "melt-in-your-mouth" treat. Or wolf down a Fried Bluebonnet.

Seeing is believing.

Simply Divine!

Article on Lally's Oddity show, which contains the "world's smallest turtle."

Have a good weekend!

Listen To These 5 And You'll Be Good.... And, Lucha Libre? Hey, That's Not Texan...

The Index music festival is going on as we speak. (This would be in Deep Ellum in Dallas, TX). I saw this article by Hunter Hauk which indicates 5 songs you should be looking for.
I'm pretty sure if you just listen to these 5 songs, you'll be good.

During your trip to the State fair for two lonely last days... don't forget to look at the Lucha Libre exhibit in the Women's Museum.
It never hurts to get a little Latin history, no matter what kind.

THE END!

Why You Need To Know Who Paulina Rubio Is... And Don't Take Away My Fun, Fun, Fun

Paulina Rubio is on the X Factor?
Clueless little me just found this out.
I have been a fan of the Latin songstress, going back to the 90s. I am not sure if her appearances on the show mean she is poised to become a household name? It's all happening too fast.
Since I am not posting a picture of Paulina, here is an old video.

New new new:
For all the Fun you can stand, visit the Fun fun fun fest in Austin, TX, from November 8 until November 10. (Choc-a-bloc full of musical acts).
Your FUN side will not forgive you if you don't go.
THE END.

In a not fun way,
Alice

Do not forget about the State Fair of Texas.

Harry Truman Spoke Words of Wisdom ... Big Tex May Speak If You're Nice

"Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction,"
Harry S. Truman.
Take the quote with you throughout the day.

Then while you're at the State Fair of Texas, enjoy the Life And Times Of Big Tex exhibit at the 'Hall of State.' (History here.)
Big Tex will thank you. He may even walk up and start chatting (use caution!).

Parkland opened yesterday.

Sincerely,
Alice

Are You Supposed To Spray Your Head? A Site To Honor Big Tex, And What Was That Leaf Blower Doing?

Hello
In the bathroom of a bar that adjoins to a major concert venue, I tried to use the soap. The automatic dispenser was located ABOVE eye level.
When the soap shot out, it made a sort of parabola. If I was standing in the right spot, it would have reached my head.
I was thinking, or am now thinking, are you supposed to place the soap on your head?

Lovely. Just lovely.

Here is a site to honor Big Tex. It was started by Avery.

I know that is not very much information, but, if you click on the facebook page you will find out more.
As you may know, the towering cowboy burned recently, at the state fair of texas.

I see many landscaping professionals using leaf blowers in Dallas. (Buy One Here). The problem is that most of the time, they are not blowing leaves.
One day I saw a leaf-blower user blowing away flowers on the sidewalk.
I have a feeling these machines are overrated.

Most of the time, they are just blowing air onto the sidewalk.
If you want more details on obtaining a leaf blower, click here.

Thank you for reading the blog.
