"Our Technicians Pay Taxes Just like You Do." And, Everything Is Like A Story Problem.

Hello and good evening:

Recently I received a mailer from the nail salon Polished.
In the mailer, it states: "Our technicians pay taxes just like you do."
Also, I checked out their web site.
One comment states that their front-of-house staff will be "exclusively speaking English," while another statement says that employees "speak only English in client areas."
I am all for participating in the American economy. However, this sounds like anti-immigrant spouting to me. Are Asian workers who don't speak English not "polished" enough for Polished?
I will continue to go to another salon, where 'Betty,' (this is not her real name), who probably does not pay taxes, will hopefully provide her services.

Also, I was at Chick-Fil-A recently. I requested a small drink, but I really meant medium. When I told the employee this, she gave me the larger drink. I had already paid, so I asked her how much more it was for the medium drink.
It became awkward. She acted like it was no problem to give me the larger drink, and pretended to be surprised that I even asked. Having just come from a physics test (this was like a story problem--isn't everything?) I told her, "You guys are losing money. But if you say it's okay, then that's fine."
Not that it's a bad thing for Chick-Fil-A to lose money right now.

I bought a Jewel CD. It was $5 at Wal-Mart. I was surprised to see it in this bin. But, I was of course glad to get the bargain.

I decided to post the actual video of Steve Jobs' 2005 Commencement address at Stanford University.  




I saw a yellow swing today, outside of someone's house... however, it was near my house. Of course, I wanted to swing. It was a swing hanging from a tree.  

There should be a rule that anyone who has a swing outside their house allow free access automatically to anyone who wants to swing.
Swings as a stress-relief tool could also be useful.

Visit Lake Cliff Park If You Are A Friend Of Oak Cliff. Also My Observation At Watermark Church. And Steve Jobs' Speech.

Dear all,
I passed a park in Oak Cliff (Dallas) that I want to visit more extensively one day. I have passed it lots of times, but the other day, I paused to look at it more closely, and noticed that the lake in the center is larger than I thought. It is Lake Cliff Park. Scroll down to the second park, after you--of course--click on the link and you will see it. (44 acres!)

I attended Watermark Church today in Dallas... after being invited by a friend.
During one active pre-service song, images were shown on a 2 large screens of the church community's members being baptized in a small pool of water that I believe is near the church. Everyone looked too happy and smiley.
In the images, everyone, including 2 or 3 people assisting the believer, had waded into the water about waist-deep. May work for some, but Huh??
I like the Catholic way of baptism, where they just dip the baby in water for a few moments, or sprinkle the child with water.
The same goal is achieved; it's less stressful for the baby and everyone involved.

A "special" segment I have no idea why I'm calling Did You Know?:

Did you know that Steve Jobs' 2005 Commencement Speech at Stanford University took him just 14:11 to complete? In it he shares "three stories about my life."
If you watch the video, watch out for the annoying graduation music, which plays while he is talking. I don't think I even liked that music when I graduated.

This web site contains great clothes to wear to Bingo Night, A Whichever-Tickets-You-Can-Get concert, or just anywhere.
I would say the offerings on the site push the boundary, but this is not a fashion blog.
