Welcome to my little piece of the blogosphere. During your visits to my blog you will see postings sometimes about music. I will talk about my favorite artists. I will talk about events and places to go. Since I am currently living at home, I'm North Dallas Homegirl and weblogista (Yes, I've been cracking myself up for 8 years).

Enlightening Baristas At Starbucks. And To La Toya: Where Will I Get All My Advice Now?
Dear All,
While at Starbucks recently, I overheard a man saying to the female barista while waiting for his drink, "I was in Cancun," then, "in Mexico."
Then he said, "they have Starbucks there, too." The man was probably in his mid-30s, and I think with a shaved head.
Then after brief chit-chat, he said, "Ok, B'bye."
I think he thought he was enlightening the barista. (I was sitting at a table nearby). I don't know the facts, but she did not appear to be dumb.
When I say enlightening her, it is as in: REALLY? Cancun is in MEXICO? And, wow, they have ACTUAL Starbucks locations in other countries?
New Topic: I watched a brief segment of Celebrity Apprentice.
I have never been too into this show.
Except when the actual "The Apprentice" began, I thought it was interesting.
God only knows why I watched Celebrity Apprentice. However, I did see La Toya Jackson, and later pondered, why is La Toya on Celebrity Apprentice? What happened to the psychic hotline?
The End.

"This S*** Writes Itself" And, A Quote Vital To Your Existence
Hi:
I saw a man at the Labor Day 5k and 15k wearing this shirt.
In case you cannot read it, there is a picture of William Shakespeare with the words "This S*** Writes Itself"
I took the picture against the sun, but I had little choice because I'm not good at directing people to move when I'm taking spontaneous photos.
Before I took the picture, his wife (at least I believe that's who it was) said, "I can't believe he wears it in public." No wife, it's great.
Here is a very useful quote from R. Buckminster Fuller, an architect, inventor, systems theorist, and also an author.
"I look for what needs to be done ... After all, that's how the universe designs itself."
Here he is.

Bye, and The End.

Don't Switch Horses Midstream, Sounding Like A Suburban B****, And Well, Random Photos
This is a photo of the car that was left running at Starbucks:
It is the car nearest the front. A dark SUV.
Here is a wonderful phrase. A relative of mine told me recently. I laughed: "No debes cambiar de caballo a la mitad del rio."
The translation is: Don't Switch Horses Midstream.
Stick to Your Plan.
Don't Give Up.
And, speaking of Starbucks (Here we go again), a "barista" recently called out my drink order while I was there. However, the whipped cream that I already had requested was not there. The short story is that I politely reminded her of the whipped cream. She--maybe in her mid 20s--gave me a dirty look. I realized that when I asked for the whipped cream, I must have sounded like a suburban b****. Which OF course, warrants a dirty look and then being nasty.
(I am not currently living in the suburbs, however, I do have roots).
The partial summation is: Don't Mess With My Whipped Cream.
In total summation, this can be a good thing.
I visited H+M, on tax-free weekend. It was at Northpark Mall. There was actually a long line for the dressing room. C'mon people, it's only H+M !
I tried to take some close-up pictures of accessories. This one is neat, I thought, but also includes the price of the accessories.
And:
Goodbye. Thanks for reading,
Alice

I'm Just Going To Grab A Frappuccino, Real Quick
The picture above is from a duathalon recently in Dallas. As you can see, there was free watermelon.
I saw some coffee-goers who left their car running while at Starbucks. I do not like saying "OMG," therefore I will just say... that it is a REALLY bad idea.
The car, a nice SUV, was left by itself for a good 5 minutes. I am still trying to sort through the experience.
Goodbye,

"I'm Not The Type To Take Sluts Out," A Stellar Starbucks Moment, And Cattle Out For A Stroll
Dear Readers,
Music News:
I heard a rap song today--it was by Big L--which contained the following lyrics: "I'm Not The Type To Take Sluts Out."
Wow, always good to know.
The song also contained the lyrics, "gonna start rapin' b******." Obviously, there are demeaning and moral reasons this is wrong. I will not go into that. It is also in very bad taste.
As you may or may not know, I do like some hip hop selections ... BUT only if they meet my approval.
What did you do today, ndh?:
I visited Starbucks. After they made my drink wrong, they made a new drink the way it was supposed to be, and gave me a size larger for free. They also gave me the mistaken drink. I hate to sound cliche, but this does not normally happen to me.
Not bad for a company founded in 1971 that was almost named Pequod.
On the way out of Starbucks, I saw a specialized Hummer with "Alpha" on the back end. So unattractive. My accompanier to Starbucks agreed with the level of attractiveness. Is this so an alpha-male can feel alpha-cool?
This story explains how an overturned cattle-hauling trailer caused a mess in Dallas, on Thursday. Scroll down to where it says Original Entry if you want the main facts. Here are some pictures.
The End.
My final words,

Taken at the Big D Marathon, this past April. This guy likes to run 26.2 miles so much, he tattooed it on his leg.
On the other leg, he had a tattoo of the logo for the Tough Mudder race. (Are you tough enough? Find out when you check the link and take the "quiz").
