Chatting On The Plane, Or, Be Happy With What You Have

Recently I heard two guys chatting on an airplane.
Sitting directly behind me, I learned much about their lives. Both were probably younger than me. Both had a laundry list of possessions, as well as good jobs and other things.

EXAMPLE: "I visited Cape Town recently."
"I live in LA."
"My wife sees nothing but the ocean on her drive to work."
"I'm having a destination wedding."
"I visit Hawaii regularly."
"I just bought a new house in San Antonio."

I was surprised to find at the end that I wasn't really jealous. While possessions are great, I'm not sure if these two giddy co-passengers have lost sight of what's important.
I guess I wasn't jealous because I feel glad to be grateful for what I have, while still working toward the future.

The point: Be grateful for what you have NOW. Do not put all of your energy solely into possessions.

THE END.

It is Day 18 of the Blogathon.

"The Cream Shirt Is A Great Choice, And Thank Goodness You Bought A Paleta De Tamarindo!"

Hello all,

I know this is not a very good picture. It is the best I could do.

The girl in the picture was speaking loudly on her speakerphone. The incident took place in an airport lounge, where I was, recently.
Yes, I understand if you need to talk on the phone, but not on speakerphone in a public place. She was asked to turn it down, and she did so, but did not say anything.
Since she was discussing her clothing choices, and a popsicle that she bought for someone (a paleta), I wanted to turn around and say: "I think the cream shirt is a great choice, and thank goodness you bought a paleta de tamarindo."
Just to try and shut her up.

A picture I took recently in Dallas. Considering I took it from my car, I'm surprised it turned out so well.

Fancy a ride?

The End.

stay devoted,
Alice
