After running the Cowtown half marathon yesterday, I came to a conclusion before the race: I was running back and forth, trying to get warmed up. The best thing to do before a 1/2 marathon, is run or jog, and PRAY.
Also, I noticed a woman during the run, with a running shirt stating on the back: Hot Mess Hoodlums. I am confused about people trying to incorporate their own hotness into their running goals, or into the name of their "running group."
Also, at one point there was a Tejano Dj Service who was motivating runners along the route. As one runner passed, the Dj, or his friend--I can't remember--shouted to a runner, "Good job, Essay!"
I enjoyed the "YMCA" that he was playing.
I have not posted a video in a while. Here is a special treat. The video is only 40 seconds long. It is some firefighters dancing to a song by Soulja Boy. I have not heard the sound yet, but going by the video, it should be interesting!
THE END,
Alice

Don't forget to notify your friends of the post.
Welcome to my little piece of the blogosphere. During your visits to my blog you will see postings sometimes about music. I will talk about my favorite artists. I will talk about events and places to go. Since I am currently living at home, I'm North Dallas Homegirl and weblogista (Yes, I've been cracking myself up for 8 years).

"I Love Sweater Dresses In The Winter." And, "My Boy's On His Way!"
Hello Graceful Readers:
A cheesy friend said to me somewhat recently, while flipping through a catalog containing sweater dresses, "I love sweater dresses in the winter."
I nodded smilingly and looked at the catalog, but I was secretly thinking, I hate sweater dresses! They are a remnant of the past, in a bad way!
However, I did see a sweater dress the other day, in a catalog, that was completely wearable.
So in honor of the cheesy friend here is a picture of a sweater-y dress, casual, YET something your grandmother would make (it is not the same one I saw and liked):
I have not reported on anything "overheard" or anything that I have witnessed lately. So: I was leaving Parkland Hospital last Sunday. As I strained to hear more, a man (a patient) was stating loudly to a friend (I think also a patient, or if not, just a passerby), "My boy's on his way." And, "My girl's coming tomorrow."
The man was perhaps in his 30s, in a wheelchair, and with a not-thought-out haircut and a mustache.
Although I got into my car very slowly, that was all I heard. I wondered: why did he need "his boy" and his "girl"? Also, what would his "girl" look like if I saw her?
And, was there going to be a smackdown at the hospital??
Khloe Kardashian and her husband Lamar Odom are living in Dallas (probably not North Dallas!!) and they are filming their reality show here. I do not have much to say about this, except, my friend Gloria recently saw Khloe at a Dallas Mavericks basketball game. Reportedly, she was texting...the whole time!
I cannot think of much to say to the boring, unthrilling Khloe, so I guess here is my statement: "Welcome, texting pro."
Goodbye,
Alice

Please check out this cool book, self-published by a doctor in Dallas.
Check out these very simple gold earrings to mix and match.
One more dress! It is actually a sweater dress.

What's The Difference Between a Pit Bull and a Soccer Mom? Don't Know. Neither Does Sarah Palin. And, Should You Wear Sweatpants To Class?
Hi:
The above title was simply to introduce that I am going to talk about lipstick.
I was putting on lipstick
recently.
(The woman here looks confused.
Just like me!)
I realized for about the one hundredth time that it takes great skill and practice to do it well, and to make it look really good.
As inane as it sounds, I admire women who are really good at this. I think I need to go to a
Lipstick Workshop.
Your "Fashion Police" Comments:
I have seen: a lot of tight jeans with small "bootie" boots, flip flops, and sweatpants that people are trying to make look stylish.
Most of these observations were made at Richland College in Dallas, so obviously I am not being very expansive.
Here is my verdict: Yes on the tight jeans with "boots," although it is not very creative.
No on the flip flops. (There is no point to them right now).
I did view two people in my class yesterday wearing sweatpants.
I used to wear sweatpants during my first time in college, however that was way back when.
So, No on the sweatpants! I do not care if you are a student. Poor baby.
They look unappealing. They are one rung above pajama pants. Which I have also seen. I say, No, No, No! With all of my observant heart.
I really like the new Madonna song.
It is called Give Me All Your Luvin', and includes Nikki Manaj and MIA.
Luv, Peace and Soul.

Here's The Deal: Chrissy and Janet Made Up. And, Get You Some Mon Julien
Gentle Readers:
Here's the Deal: I am going to write the blog in blasts of exciting expertise.
You may read it all in an engaged, focused manner, or skip to the part that you like the most.
Recently I was filling out an application for a local restaurant, which shall remain nameless.
At the top of the application, it stated, "This is a very important document. Please take great care when filling it out."
Duh.
There are many instructions, and questions, on job applications for large and small jobs, which make me say,
"Duh."
Now for the reason you got out of bed.
Chrissy
And Janethave made up. (The web site I have posted, from The Clicker on The Today Show, has a bunch of garbage at the top... just pay attention to the story).
After about 30 years of not speaking, the two "actresses" got together again on Suzanne Somers' "web series." This is directly unrelated to anything happening in your life.
Another item. Don Cornelius, host and producer for many years of Soul Train, committed suicide earlier this week, at age 75. The link is slightly better than other ones I found. It is from ABC News.
Due to the many recent views that the post "A Classic Post" (Sept. 28, 2011) has gotten, I have added a new musical link to the news reel on the right side of the blog ("Stay Informed On The Hot Topic Of The Day"). Mon Julien is composed of two former members of Black Tie Dynasty, one of the groups I blogged about in "A Classic Post." A Classic Post was actually my very first blog.
Also:
It is the Dixie Chicks album I mentioned in my last blog.
I am still heavily listening to 'Truth No. 2.'
Goodbye! and Happy Heart Month. See image, above.

"Suma Luma Looma Luma Luma Luma Seema Luma"
Hi,
I haven't posted due to many things.
I am very tired of Drama Queens. More to the point, drama seems to come and go.
But, it is time for its recrudescence.
An Entirely New topic:
Apparently many people have trouble with the name Alice.
Gentle readers, it does not greatly annoy me... but it does somewhat.
At various times in my life, I have been called:
Allison
Dallas
April
And, just yesterday... Alexis.
Also, I have been called other names, which bear no resemblance to Alice.
Here's a "helpful" hint: Remember famous people named Alice.
Here are three:
Alice in Chains
Alice Cooper
Alice Walker
Next time I will just say that.
Keeping with the old school rap theme, here is Supersonic, by the group JJ Fad. You many think I am addicted to old school rap... which I am not.
However, I did listen to this song over and over, in sixth grade, which is why I am posting it.
Today on You Tube, a user named "goldensloth7" posted the comment: Holy Crap, this is awesome. Apparently he or she has just discovered JJ Fad.
Been listening to: The album Home from the Dixie Chicks. It is from 2002. I especially like the song, "Truth No. 2." I like it because it contains the lyric, "You don't like the sound of the truth, coming from my MOUTH."
And I like the song, "Tortured, Tangled Hearts."
Goodbye,
Alice

"The Demographic of This Restaurant is The Morbidly Obese and Children." And A Video.
Hello:
Last week, I was visiting CiCi's Pizza with my cousin, Rafael. It was the Cici's Pizza on I-635 and Audelia Road. It is a restaurant tucked into an ugly shopping center.
The eating experience was so-so.
There were a few children running around us, as we were eating. There were a few chubby people.
I asked Rafael what he was thinking, to which he replied: "I was just thinking that the demographic of this restaurant is the morbidly obese, and children."
I looked around...
I could not argue with him. It was true.
For no other reason than I was thinking of this song a couple of weeks ago, and I could not get it out of my head, here is a hit from, I believe, 1991.
The Detroit (Uh Oh... Detroit AGAIN) rapper, named Eric Breed, has died since then. He also went by MC Breed.
The song is "Ain't No Future In Yo Frontin'"
Practice "Guilt Free" reading of this blog.
Goodbye,
Alice
(ndh)
I heard the song Breathe (2 a.m.) by Anna Nalick about four days ago.
Since this lyric stuck in my head, I am posting it:
"Life's Like an Hourglass, Glued To The Table."
Life is like an hourglass, but no need to panic about it!
(Again, this blog is not meant to be politically correct. The point is that I write honestly, and I tell just the facts, ma'am.)

The Year In Review: 2011
It's time for a year in review.
The things below have been selected for posting, for No Other Reason than
I wanted people to see them again.
(They were not the most popular posts from the blog.
They were not the most controversial.) They are not even in the right order.
Some of the images did not come out on the second post.
We have our best people working on that.
If you want to look up the original blog post in the archives, you can!
They are both from 2011...
So Happy 1-1-12.
Here 'tis.

It's So Cold In The D. That's Detroit, Not Dallas.
I am keeping with the Detroit theme for this blog post. See my most recent post.
Thank you to Rafael, my cousin,(he has been mentioned in a previous blog... who hasn't been reading??????????) who alerted me to this video being on Beavis and Butthead...
It's So Cold In The D. By T Baby.
While many have critiqued the poor dancing and rapping skills in the video (at least on You Tube), it is worth noting that T Baby is saying, "how the f*** are we supposed to KEEP PEACE?"
It indicates that she wants to start a dialogue about peace and understanding.
Also ( I am being more serious ) if you watch the video, you will see that some friends or family members have died.
I don't know who has died, but that makes the video disturbing and sad.
And (now I am being less serious )the confusing part of the video is that: No one looks cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (too many exclamation marks) I thought it was SO COLD in the D???????????????????????????????? (Question mark overload).
Unrelated News.
I am listening to: a CD from my Human Disease and Pathophysiology textbook.
Yes, it is the
next big hit.
Goodbye,
Alice

Get Your Own Margarita
Special ONE TIME ONLY "what's wrong with me" post:
I saw a bunch of people cheating in my class, during a really big test, the other day (the same class where we once dissected a sheep brain). I do not know what they were thinking, but I have a feeling if I were to ask them about it, they would be super casual about it.
At the time I was thinking: so much for all the studying I did. (I could have watched The Bachelorette !)
During the writing of this I am feeling annoyed, but slightly confused.... maybe I am TOO ETHICAL ??
It leaves me feeling mad, and annoyed.
I was going to post this for the fourth of July
but I did not... so, just enjoy one during fourth of July week. If you do not drink, enjoy a LEMONADE.
See her:
(I am not going to tell you who she is. You have to figure it out. See: a recent post of mine, if you like) at the American Airlines Center July 12. The AAC is in Dallas, Tx. Starts at 7 p.m. (Britney will also be there).
Also, there will be some people there that I have not heard of,

In 'N Out: The Photostory. And, Middle Sister Wine.
( A side note: Thank you to Jay and D'ninae... hope I spelled your names right, for your contributions to the mailbag. :) I am doing fine. )
Hello,
I visited the In 'N Out burger, located at 7909 LBJ Freeway, at the intersection of Coit and LBJ in Dallas. Their number is (800) 786-1000. It was a Friday afternoon when I visited.
I am doing the blog because there was great Hoopla surrounding the openings of In 'N Outs in Dallas.
My review, after which will follow the Photostory.
The food was decent, the restaurant seemed clean and well taken care of, and the workers were friendly.
I did think the girl who took our orders was overly perky, however, I think everyone is OVERLY PERKY these days. Don't know why.
The name In 'N Out implies that you will literally be, "In And Out" of the restaurant! I was not "In And Out," however it was pretty fast.
It was faster than Taco Bell.
On the way out, I counted at least 9 cars in the Drive-thru lane. Poor them, they were not going to be "In And Out."
This customer looks a little like James Franco. Wow, he really likes that burger!
Cryptically repetitive palm trees. Are all the palm trees red in California?????????????????
Mmmmm, that "quality" was delicious. May I have an order, with a side of onion rings????????????? (Question mark overkill)
Target story!
I was in Target the other day... while walking with my cousin, 29 (he also likes to cruise the aisles of Target), I stumbled upon Middle Sister wine.
I was thinking: it took a clever, savvy wine girl to think of that name! I am not even sure if it is an excellent name.
I am even less sure of whether or not it is a good wine.
However, I am mentioning it anyway.
But, I asked my cousin (he has been mentioned in previous blogs, Rafael) in the aisle: What about the Younger Sister??
To which he replied, "The younger sister already gets enough attention."
Haha.
You can learn more about the wine and their history. It really was started by a middle sister.
I always feel like I MUST say something, about music.
The song "5 O'Clock in the Morning," by T Pain, Lilly Allen, and somebody else who is unimportant, caught my attention.
I looked up the lyrics.
I like Lilly Allen... I was a big fan of her first album.
But, after you read the lyrics you will see.
This is a very depressing song. Lilly is waiting in the bed all alone??????
Very disturbing.
Goodbye.
Stay perky.
