I was driving yesterday. It was about 6:30 p.m. on the LBJ Freeway (Lyndon B. Johnson--the B is for Baines).
Suddenly I noticed 3 kids, all under the age of 12, waving from a walkway above the traffic.
Nobody else seemed to be waving. For some reason I feel bad when kids wave at cars, and I don't wave back.
I waved. It probably made their night.
They must have come from one of the neighborhoods nearby.
This gave me pause to think, wait! It's not summer! What are they doing just hanging out near LBJ? Shouldn't they be doing homework, or something like that?
Concert Alert! Concert Alert! There is a free concert, Sat. March 23, NEAR First Presbyterian Church (The Stewpot) in Dallas, TX. The concert takes place from 4 pm until 7 pm. The concert will be down the street, at 508 Park Avenue. There is more information on the site for 508 Park Ave.
I am told that Hunter Hendrickson and Holland K. Smith will be there. It should be a blues and country mix.
The Stewpot does a lot of good for the community--countless people have been helped by their services. The newspaper Street Zine, also operates out of The Stewpot's offices. It is sold by the homeless.
Have a fruitful Friday,
Alice
