Dear Loyal Readers:
Every time I walk or drive by the old Shell gas station on 635 and Preston and I see the bulldozers and construction workers tearing it up, I get pissed off because Moosey (employee from Ethiopia) is no longer there. Also, I get pissed off because everything is closing these days.
At the Grammys on Sunday, Coldplay won three awards. The Brit rockers won Best Rock Album for Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. Coldplay also won Song of the Year for Viva La Vida, and Best Pop Performance by Duo or Group. The Dallas Morning News called them an "art rock" band in Monday's newspaper. W'sup with that, Mario Tarradell? What is "art rock" about Coldplay, and what does "art rock" mean anyway. Coldplay is more of a stone cold rock band. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, it's nice to invent new labels for no reason.
Anyway, Props to Coldplay for winning so many awards.
I got a letter from the Peace Corps:
"Dear Alice,
Thank you for your application to become a Peace Corps Volunteer and for your willingness to give two years of your life in service to others around the world. You are one of over 12,000 Americans this year who have applied for approximately 3,600 Peace Corps Volunteer assignments available worldwide." Yes, there is more to the letter but this is the most interesting part.
People are clamoring for Peace Corps positions and Half Price Books (on Preston Rd. and Dilbeck Rd.) is not even hiring. What is this world coming to??
A little birdie told me I need to get my sh** together. Even though I told the little birdie I need to get my sh** together first, the little birdie's words are haunting me. You know how sometimes someone says something to you and the word or words just won't go away? In this case, it is like there is a giant billboard haunting me. Like spiky words in my life.
Also I spoke to my old editor recently who said, "what have you been doing since you left San Angelo?" ( I left there in 2004). There is no better way to quickly assess the last five years than having somebody ask you what you've been doing for the last five years. Ahhhhh, summing up your accomplishments for the last five years, isn't it blissful????????????????????????????????????????????????? question mark overkill.
By the way, at the Grammy's Alison Krauss had HUGE hair. I do not listen to her music, nor do I know any of her songs.
Remember, Life's a B**** and then you die. Ok, I am not so cynical, but sometimes it's true. I like saying this phrase when it is useful. Welcome to the special swearing edition of my blog.
Chillax,
Peace,
bbb
