Welcome to my little piece of the blogosphere. During your visits to my blog you will see postings sometimes about music. I will talk about my favorite artists. I will talk about events and places to go. Since I am currently living at home, I'm North Dallas Homegirl and weblogista (Yes, I've been cracking myself up for 8 years).

It is my 300th Post. Send Flowers Immediately.
Today around 9 p.m. I saw fireworks across from the Ballpark at Arlington. I believe they were coming from Six Flags amusement park. It jolted me for a minute.
I told someone who is 26 today that I went to Lollapalooza in--I believe 1994--and he was just really silent, as if to say, "that was a LONG time ago." Whoa... yeah, it was.
Check out the Official lineup video for Lollapalooza, to be in Chicago this year.
I can't believe that Lollapalooza is still around.
I met Arrested Development there.
Thrilling at the time.
Goodbye. Thank you if you checked out Avery's link, which I posted recently.

Little Known Fact: Headphones Can Be Helpful While Driving. Soundgarden. And, Practice Makes Perfect.
Dear Readers,
I noticed a guy wearing headphones as he walked into a restaurant today. He had been driving a convertible, apparently trying to be fashionable with such a vehicle. He was young and attractive. I saw him--from his "cruise" into the parking lot, until he walked into the restaurant--for some reason.
He had the headphones on while he got out of his car. Maybe he was talking on the phone.
But, I am confused. If he wasn't talking on the phone, what did he need the headphones for? Are earbuds handy while driving?
Ok.
I heard the song Black Hole Sun (by Soundgarden) today. I actually like this song. However, many 90s songs are on constant replay on area radio stations.
Sometimes this is good.
Sometimes this is not.
I keep hearing, "Practice Makes Perfect."
Though often used, it is true. If there is something you want to do, anything from a school assignment to something for work, you will not get better unless you practice. I will keep practicing, until I am perfect.
Ha, ha.
Goodbye,
Alice

No Fashion Horror Stories. "Girls." And, Do You Have A Home Or Car To Donate?
dear ?,
I have seen no fashion mishaps lately... except, sweatpants that looked like jeans. Turquoise!! Of course, I saw them at the Greyhound bus station.
I heard about a show called "Girls." On HBO. It is being touted as Sex And The City, for a younger crowd. Today I watched an interview with actress Lena Dunham, who is slightly annoying.
While I probably won't watch the show much... no HBO, I am wondering if it will correctly duplicate Sex And The City's sass. What would Candace Bushnell say or think?
Frequently on LBJ and Abrams Road, I have seen people passing out mini-flyers for the Restoration Ministries of Dallas.
It is a place that helps people struggling, partially with drug and alcohol problems.
On their flyer, it states, "we take all types of donations: cash, TV's, cars, homes, etc."
Not sure who has a "home" or "car" sitting around to donate.
But, if you do have any items to donate, you can contact them at:
2515 Second Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75210.
Or, call them. (214) 428-7573.
The End.

Here Are Intriguing Items From the 99 Cent Store. And How Does One Mom Put Up With 4 Children Crying At Once?
Dear Readers,
Here is a segment I affectionately call Intriguing Items I Found At The 99 Cents Only Store:
Aside from some lovely hair accessories,
I also saw:
Some hydrogen peroxide.
Believe it or not, I was examining the label.
Even though our bodies produce it every day, who couldn't use more?
And, always good to have on hand:
Shasta Tiki Punch.
No, I have not actually tried the drink. But, who could resist something with such a festive label?
Stay tuned in, kiddos, for another exciting segment of Exciting Items I Saw At The 99 Cents Only Store.
While reading the Detroit Free Press (I am from Detroit !), I noticed a tribute to a mom who is a grandmother, contributed by a reader. It was on a page filled with similar compliments to moms.
It read: "Even when all four kids are crying at the same time, she always seems to handle it with patience and love."
What???
It is good that she can do this, however...
If I heard four kids crying at the same time, I would want to run away.
Sometimes I even want to do this when I hear one kid crying.
If you like animals, check out Avery's blog. Thanks!!
The End.

"I Love Slick People." And Do You Love Fuddrucker's? And A Picture Of Cage The Elephant
To whom it may concern,
"I love slick people," the bus driver today said.
On a greyhound bus, the sassy driver told us,
"If I catch you smoking in the bathroom, I will leave you at the next stop. And it won't be anywhere that Greyhound stops."
When I asked the driver (his name was Trey) how many people he has caught smoking, he said "None, in the last few months. That was when I was heading east. To New Orleans." Trey indicated that he once left a terrible smoker in a middle-of-nowhere town in Louisiana.
I visited Fuddrucker's. It is an old standby, but I still like it. I can remember going when a fry was as big as me.
Oh, not really.
More news...
Just yesterday I talked about the band Cage The Elephant.
Here is a picture of them. I chose it because two of them have odd looks on their faces, as in "Huh? You mean I don't look like Kurt Cobain?" Sweet Kentucky boys.
And finally,
The End.

Kevin Durant Has A Shoe And He Is Only 23. And Hee Haw! Check Out This Kentucky Band.
Dear All,
There was a new Air Jordan shoe released today. I remember seeing these in the 80s. Today people were waiting in line to get the shoe.
Speaking of shoes, I recently found out that Kevin Durant, who is only 23, and spent some time at the University of Texas, also has a shoe. It is called the Nike Zoom KD Pearl IV. I was impressed that he also has a shoe. The shoe looks a little bit like a breast cancer awareness shoe. I guess that is how Kevin Durant wanted it.
I am very sneaker clueless, so I was surprised to find the video below. The video discusses the release dates for shoes, as well as talks about how many shoes each manufacturer is going to make.
Wow. I did not even know a video such as this existed. Way to keep up, Sneakerheads. If the video does not play, just click on the YouTube link and you should be able to watch it there.
I have been hearing about the band Cage the Elephant, at various times during the past couple of weeks. I pretty much ignored all references as much as I possibly could (you know how finicky I am), until I realized there is a song of theirs that I like. It is Shake Me Down. They hail from Kentucky. So Yee haw! Or is it Hee Haw?
From The Mailbag: Thank you to Jay for your recent suggestion! Thank you very much for reading.
The End.

Do You Sleep In The Greyhound Station? And Happy Mother's Day To The Mommas
Dear joyous, not High-maintenance readers:
The other day someone left a note on my mom's car. It was after they felt she had parked to close to them at the grocery store. The writer of the note used a little post-it that said "high maintenance" on it, exemplified by a little cartoon. The note said, "You Are Lucky You Don't Have A Big Dent In Your Side For Parking So F*** Close."
Needless to say, the writer of the note cannot spell.
I have been angry at others before for parking super close to me. But, I usually just look around awkwardly for the culprit, to give them a dirty look, then drive off.
So, even more needless to say, it is low-class and odd to leave such a note. Definitely not "high maintenance" in a good way. Or at all.
Next:
Today I was in the Greyhound station. I saw a girl who made a comfy, cozy resting area on the floor, and decided to take a nap. Maybe she had been traveling for a long time and was super tired. However, I can't imagine the floor of the Greyhound station is a comfy place to get 40 winks.
Happy early mother's day to all the "mommas."
The End.
