Go See Justin Timberlake, Or Just Stay Home And Make Mixtapes

I ran the turkey trot on thanksgiving. While it was chilly, where else can you run down the street with 30,000 turkeys?
Truthfully my team believes there were not 30,000 people there. However, this was the figure announced.

2 Events:
Justin Timberlake brings his Oh-so-Justin tour to the American Airlines Center on Dec. 4. While staying home and listening to 'NSYNC albums may be equally rewarding, if you GO you can stay and hang out at the A.A.C for...

Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar on December 6 at 8 p.m.
While Kendrick Lamar may be the more gifted performer, you don't want to miss out on what the headliner of the tour will say next.

The End--
Alice

Don't neglect the Jingle Bell Run on December 23. It begins at 7 p.m., but even if you don't run, you can still be FESTIVE at the post-race party with other jinglers.

*The hot dog vendor at Main and Akard appears to be missing.

*Thanks for reading.

Ready, Set... Mourn JFK (4 Things That Weren't Already On Your List)

Dallas is getting ready for the anniversary of John F. Kennedy's death, on Friday. All of the getting into a tizzy by the city aside (after all, this event only happens every 50 years), there is MUCH you can do to memorialize JFK's assassination.
All of these activities are approved by me:
1. Visit the Texas Theatre, where Lee Harvey Oswald was seen meandering in after his crime. Ok sneaking not meandering.
2. Hear the son of Jack Ruby's lawyer (the man who killed Lee H. Oswald) at the Allen Public Library, Friday. It is in Allen, TX.
Winston Smith will begin speaking at 3 p.m. It is in the Civic Auditorium. I was told today that the coordinator of speakers for the library "put a lot of effort into" planning this and other JFK events. Please get there early. Besides, would you want to keep the son of Jack Ruby's attorney waiting?

3. Visit Love Field, where Kennedy flew in before he was killed. There is lots of artwork, so look at that... or just ask nosy questions!
4. Scrounge up your best Jackie O. outfit at the likes of Target and TJ Maxx. Just because you want to look like Jackie O., doesn't mean you have to spend as much as she did.

THE END.

Follow Your Heart To These Dogs

For a refreshing treat, get a hot dog from the corner stand at Main and Akard Streets in Dallas.

The hot dogs, one of which I had the other day, are between $3-5, some may be more. While not exactly a bargain, where else can you get your street dog fix while physically being in Dallas? Ask the man to hold the onions and it may be less.

The man, in his late 20s, may do a little yelp when he is making your hot dog.

New:
Want to get Stung? Go to the American Airlines Center on February 9, 2014. At the same venue will be Paul Simon.

The End,
Alice

Dallas Buyer's Club Part 2. And, Off You Go To Keep Austin Weird

I did actually see Dallas Buyer's Club. Now, we all know that not all Dallasites wear cowboy hats, as the character Mr. Woodroof does in the movie. And, there were not a whole lot of scenes that were shot in Dallas. (There were none).

Here's the positive spin:
When I first heard about the premise of the movie I was skeptical. Greatly diminishing this was the way the movie makes you actually care about the characters, while also making you gasp and gape in surprise, during other parts. (Did you need a reminder that there is always more to learn about AIDS and HIV?) Matthew McConaughey's (yes, Uvalde, TX's son) talent shows through, and Jared Leto is an adorable--NOT adorkable--transvestite. Off you go, to see it.

Two more items:
The fun fun fun fest started today in Austin, TX. Pick a day, any day, then pay 79.00, and go.
How else to keep Austin weird?
Also:
Visit with Latin crooner Alejandro Fernandez November 29 at the Verizon Theatre. Your Mexican side will never forgive you if you don't go.

Keeping Dallas weird,
Alice

Go Clubbing? At The Dallas Buyer's Club

If you want to see the hometown hero of Uvalde, TX and a former star of My So-Called Life, prance yourself over to a theatre to see Dallas Buyer's Club on November 8. This is the opening day...

So prance, prance, prance.

Not prancing,
Alice
