I saw Alkaline Trio Tuesday night at the House of Blues. The venue: the house of blues is a cool venue, except it looks really shiny and new and I don't like that. I'm more of a fan of older venues like the Granada. I was trying to take photos of people because I want to become a photographer and I'm trying to get all the practice I can get. But the battery died on me.
The band: Alkaline Trio was awesome. Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano, and Derek Grant rocked it out. Their energy got the crowd moving and body surfing. Most of the crowd looked like they would get grounded if they weren't home by 10 p.m. Made me feel old, in a good way. I would def. go see the trio from McHenry, Illinois (near Chicago) again. After the band finished their set, the audience begged for more and the trio graciously came out and played two more songs. I did not see the two opening acts, American Steel and the Fashion, which sucks.
Love Love, Kiss Kiss is one of my favorite songs from their latest release, Agony and Irony (this is the only album I have--although the boys have been around since 1996): "Love love, kiss kiss ... blah blah blah
You're making me sick, I wish you'd just stop showing off
For the rest of us that no one wants to love
It's hard enough trying to drink another winter all alone
Love love, kiss kiss ... blah blah blah
Well do you find you like to fall in love with people that you're never gonna meet?
It's easier than breaking up and crying in the street."
On the way home from the concert I got into an accident. While I was changing lanes this car sideswiped me and then drove off at 90 m.p.h. I had a flat tire and I stopped in Victory Park and these two cops (actually off-duty DPS officers) changed it for me. I called my dad. At a time like that, you need a parent. Memo to self: must read article on changing a tire that I got from JANE magazine. Repeatedly.
Please go and buy Alkaline Trio, Agony and IRony.
I found 2 new flavors of hot pockets.
See ya,
bbb
Welcome to my little piece of the blogosphere. During your visits to my blog you will see postings sometimes about music. I will talk about my favorite artists. I will talk about events and places to go. Since I am currently living at home, I'm North Dallas Homegirl and weblogista (Yes, I've been cracking myself up for 8 years).

Alanis is back... and other blabbing... are you a Citizen of the Planet?
BBB is back... with a vengeance.
Ok, I just got the new Alanis Morisette CD, Flavors of Entanglement, from Starfuckers (not a dis to Starbucks I just like that word).
I haven't listened to all of the songs yet, but I like it so far. Track 9 has a funny title, "Giggling Again For No Reason." Again I have not gotten to that song yet bc I just listened to it in my car on the way here, but I will let you know. I also like track 1, "Citizen of the Planet. ON the cover there is a photo of Alanis, looking like "I am Alanis Morisette and you oughtta know I am deep and complex."
The other day I was at the Shell station on 635 and Preston, and I almost got run over by a 14-year-old driving a big white F-150.
YOu all must hear the band Oliphant, they are a local band. I heard them Sat. at Liquid Lounge, they are great. Very hard rock sounding but thats ok. They have a myspace and don't have time to type it in right now so look it up. Or else the rock gods will be mad.
I went to Harry's (frozen yogurt place)in Uptown today (hmmmm, makes it sound like I go to Uptown all the time and I DON'T). I had a cone with DEATH by CHOCOLATE, it was delicious. So try it if you can. Or the yogurt gods will be mad. I also talked to Harry himself.
I had a Hot Pocket last night. In order to warm it up, you must use a CRISPING SLEEVE. I just like that word. CRISPING SLEEVE. I am going to try to work it into normal conversation, as in, my EVIL BOSS should be put into a CRISPING SLEEVE and fried (or over-crisped, at minimum). Don't have an EVIL BOSS right now but that doesn't matter.
Bow down to ALANIS and Oliphant,
I got cat class and I got cat style.

p.s. i like this quote: "please ponder your policy of perpetual procrastination" I heard this from a toastmaster friend recently, and no it was not said to me. So there.

give me a double honey
"If you came to make trou-ble, give me a double, honey, I think its good."
--From a song I overheard at the Starbucks on Gaston Avenue a couple of nights ago. I don't know who sings it. She had a mellow, jazzy voice. It is my new credo. GIVE ME A DOUBLE, HONEY.
I am at my parents' house blogging. I went to Toastmasters this morning and I am tired.
I went to Fantastic Sam's Monday to get my hair cut. (Yes, NDH goes to Fantastic Sam's. Do you think I can afford an expensive hair cut?????????) My stylist matter-of-factly informed me that he likes to drink water but it makes him go to the bathroom all day.
I like F.S. because it reminds me of when I was little and used to go there to get my hair cut. I got my hair cut up to my shoulders. At the end, my stylist asked me if I wanted shine spray and I said yes. This was a new thing for me --I don't think I've ever used shine spray. I enjoyed the decor, such as the signs that said things like, That Hair of Yours Is No Wallflower. The sign is right, That Hair of Mine is No Wallflower.
The other day (July 4th) I was going for a walk near my apt. and I accidentally got caught staring at this woman's house. It was a pretty big blue house, really old and on a street near my street. It was funny that she pulled up and I was like gaping at her house. I quickly walked away.
You all must buy a Glade clean linen candle. I got it at Walgreen's but I'm sure you can also find it at Target (Tar-jay) or wherever. It smells great, like freshly washed clothes. I plan to light it while I am writing my short stories so I can breathe in the clean linen.
Gotta go,
bbb

picking bananas out of my fruit salad...on a Saturday
Dear Blogger Friends,
now that I am done picking bananas out of my fruit salad to eat, I can effectively blog. Yes, bbb loves the potassium-filled fruit.
Did you know that this wednesday is the birthday of O.J. Simpson (yuck),Tom Hanks and John Tesh???????????????? Play a little instrumental piece in honor of Tesh.
I went to a neighborhood party yesterday. I got to try some red wine and my own rice (delicious!!!!!!!!) It was fun, bbb is such a good rice-maker.
I find that I keep getting checked out in my car. Sometimes it's ok, but I wonder, what is the universal sign (besides the commonly understood middle finger) for "stop leering at me through your windows?" If anyone knows, let me know.
Music news: I really like that song that goes, "shake- shake- shake- shake- a-shake-it." They play it on 106.1 Kiss FM a lot. I don't know who sings it. Every time I hear it I turn it up. It makes you wanna shake it.
Don't do anything nugatory,
Holding it down in the 75214,
bbb
p.s. I spent all day saying, "must blog" to myself. Phew, now I can stop saying that.

buzzin
I went to a cool restaurant last night, Buzz Brew. Its on 75 between Lemmon Ave. and Fitzhugh St. (not sure if Fitzhugh is a Street but oh well). It has fun decor and is a fun place for breakfast or lunch, or just to hang out. Don't have the chicken fajitas, but other than that its good. Supposedly it is owned by the same guy who owns Cafe Brazil. Anyway I had fun.
Talkin' more about Coldplay: I really like #7, Viva La Vida, along with #4, "42". In Viva la Vida, Chris Martin sings about when he ruled the world, and its really cool. I could go on and on, but you should hear it for yourself. It has a mystical sound. Just go and buy the group of ditties, durnit. I've been listening to the CD before I go to bed. (yes, over and over).
V. excited about Alkaline Trio July 22. But I still need someone to go with.
I leave you with this thought, gentle readers (hopefully its plural, ha ha): Life is Not a Bowl of Cherries, but can't I just have more cherries? (don't copy this please).
peace out,
