Blogging brunette bombshell
Welcome to my little piece of the blogosphere. During your visits to my blog you will see postings sometimes about music. I will talk about my favorite artists. I will talk about events and places to go. Since I am currently living at home, I'm North Dallas Homegirl and weblogista (Yes, I've been cracking myself up for 8 years).

doma, shrink
my shrink said no to the interview, his quote was, "you can talk about me, you can say, 'My psychiatrist is a jerk, I like my psychiatrist, etc.'" So, I like my psychiatrist. Anyway I will not be bringing you any tales of Prozac or Paxil from him. Sorry.
The Dallas Observer Music Awards were just announced last week. I approve of the readers' choice for Musician of the Year, Christ HOlt. Very talented and a nice guy. I approve of the choice for Best Act in Town, Best Male Singer (Cory Watson), Best Instrumentalist (Eddie Thomas) and Best Album (Movements): Black Tie Dynasty. If you've read the earlier review you won't be surprised. Yay for Black Tie. For Best Web site/blog... hello? what about the content you are reading right now??? NDH is offended. Yay to The Granada Theatre for being selected best Live Music Venue. As far as some of the other categories, I have not heard of some of the awardees. I do like The Adventure Club on 102.1, chosen as Best Radio Show, with host Josh Venable.
Have to go watch an important TV show.

elliott smith
blogging brunette bombshell is back... I promised some elliott smith and here it is: I recently purchased New Moon from (you guessed it) CD World in Addison. Disc 1: My favorite song is #3, High Times--the crescendo up to the chorus is delicious. On Disc 2, my favorite song is #9 Pretty Mary K (other version). Although the guy at CD World gave it a rave review, I feel that some of the songs sound the same. I adore some of his extremely honest lyrics though. This album is made up of his B-sides and unknown tracks--
elliott committed suicide in October 2003. I like the album cover, bright blue with a city scene. On the inside of the CD there is a huge photo of Elliott looking confused, or maybe he's just bored. The CD is filled with essays that include intricate details about E. from those who knew him.
By the by, I made Cheesy Sleazy--it was delicious.
going to hit the sack.

salad people
yesterday i was in B&N (Beltline and Preston) and I saw this man sit down next to me with a huge tupperware thing of salad... then his g-friend proceeded to sit down next to him and eat the salad with him. This left me with a myriad of questions... was it leftover from one of their work lunches? Is it some kind of ritual? ... hmmmm.... I was sitting next to them pondering. They even had salad dressing, the kind that spritzes. I was not able to fully see the contents of the salad, just the lettuce and maybe some tomatoe or something.
Since this is my blog I am going to review the White Stripes' latest album, Icky Thump. And since its my blog I am going to write it however I want. Ha ha. If you get their album (which kicks ass) you must proceed directly to #4, Conquest, and then #13, Effect and Cause (which I am foaming at the mouth over). The Stripes have not let us down with a jam-packed (is that a cliche?) album.
The Stripes seem to have gone Mexican--on their album cover they are wearing Mariachi uniforms (or at least thats what it looks like). W'sup with that? NDH is a promoter of Latino culture, but it seems odd on the Stripes. Some of the songs on the album are too hard rocking for me, but overall, I like it. One lyric that I think is funny from 300 M.P.H. Torrential Outpour Blues: "I'm getting hard on myself/ sitting in my easy chair/ Well there's three people in the mirror and I'm wondering which one of them I should choose."
Please, please, do NDH a favor and proceed to your nearest version of CD World and pick up Icky Thump. Go, blogger fan, go, go, go, go!
Before I go, please pick up a copy of this new cookbook: "I Like Food, Food Tastes Good" by Kara Zuaro. There are recipes from many bands in there as well as very funny comments. I want to make Cheesy Sleazy.
Well, NDH is getting very tired, so must turn in on this lonely Fri. night.
Groovin on Stripes-ness,
NDH
p.s. look forward next time to Elliott Smith. I just picked up his new album.
